Evolution of Egg Drop Blueprint

--

There was a project in my Physics class. To drop an egg from 3 meters and not crack. Weight limit of 250 g and able to insert the egg in under 15 seconds. The overall plan was to use a stocking to cushion the egg from the impact.

First Sketch at the Project
First Actual Design
Final Design

The final design consists of holes underneath the base for easier airflow to the parachute

Result: Success, weighted less than 50 g, didn’t even show a crack, and was able to insert the egg in less than 2 seconds.

Another test was taken, to drop the contraption from the second-story window. Unfortunately, the parachute did not deploy, however, due to the stocking, it did not crack once more.
